Overview
The significant increase in visitation to Port Arthur Iead to a review of visitor services and tourism infrastructure. Visitation had grown from 250,000 per annum to 440,000 in three years and was projected to maintain this growth. The existing facilities were largely redundant. HPA were engaged and lead a multidisciplinary team from early concept through to completion of construction.
Stage 1 of Project : HPA engaged to undertake Preliminary Scoping Study to guide development and visitation / tourism requirements. Stakeholder Consultation and detailed return brief developed across all project parameters primarily tourism visitation and development scoping. Heritage impact assessment and review of project under UNESCO World Heritage and EPBC Act delivered.
Stage 2 of Project : Detailed Scoping and Options Study to guide investment decisions relating to scale of development and visitation / tourism requirements. Four detailed Options developed around functional / interpretation requirements ranging $7.5M to $44M. All options developed to design stage and costed with oversight of expert heritage panel.
Stage 3 of Project saw the preferred Option developed and proceed to Development Application and Commonwealth review. Detailed Costing and tender documentation was undertaken.
